Tartan Day : Project Implementation

Pipe band Tartan Day is a celebration of Scottish heritage. Since the mid 80s it has been celebrated in the US and Canada and has now spread to other communities of the Scottish diaspora.

Angus Council has been working to develop a parallel Tartan Day in Scotland, with the aim of creating a Scotland-wide event by 2020. The project was the subject of a positive Feasibility Study and Business Plan in 2006, both produced by GVA RGA, which received European Regional Development Fund funding.

GVA RGA have since been assisting the Council and their project team : Scottish Executive, Scottish Enterprise, EventScotland and six other local authorities in Scotland to recruit more participants and encourage greater involvement. Benefits included a national marketing campaign, an international PR programme and centralised web and booking portal.
